1954 – Canada $5 Banknote - UNC – Modified Queen Elizabeth II Beattie-Rasminsky Consecutive Trio
This 1954 Canadian $5 Banknote trio features consecutive serial numbers — X\2192087 to X\2192089 — from the Modified series issued by the Bank of Canada. This early post-war issue was printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company Limited and features the youthful Queen Elizabeth II engraved by George Gundersen from a photograph by Yousuf Karsh.
The obverse presents the bilingual denomination “FIVE DOLLARS / CINQ DOLLARS” set against a light blue geometric guilloché pattern with the Canadian Coat of Arms faintly embedded in the background. The signatures of Deputy Governor M. Beattie and Governor J.E. Rasminsky authenticate the note’s issue.
The reverse displays a tranquil Northern Ontario wilderness scene featuring a forested river and waterfall, engraved with remarkable detail in deep blue ink. This depiction of Canada’s pristine natural landscape complements the elegance and national pride of the series.
This offering is especially notable for being a consecutive set of three matching serial-number notes, highly desirable among collectors for their rarity, precision alignment, and pristine condition.
