1919 Russia 10,000 Rubles – Civil War Issue – XF Condition – Imperial Eagle Design

CA$75.00

1919 Russian 10,000 Rubles banknote is a striking example of early 20th-century currency issued during the Russian Civil War period. Produced under the authority of the State Treasury of Russia, this large-denomination note reflects the economic turmoil and inflation that followed the fall of Imperial Russia.

The obverse features an elaborate Imperial-style frame with the denomination 10,000 Rubles prominently displayed, flanked by classical decorative elements and the Russian double-headed eagle — a powerful symbol of the former empire. Ornate engravings and complex line work were used as anti-counterfeiting measures during a time of widespread monetary instability.

The reverse showcases allegorical female figures representing strength, unity, and state authority, seated on either side of the Russian coat of arms. Architectural imagery in the background reinforces the era's national symbolism. The craftsmanship and artistic detail make this note especially desirable among collectors of Russian, Imperial, and Civil War–era banknotes.

These notes circulated during a period of extreme inflation, making higher denominations common yet historically significant. Surviving examples in collectible condition are increasingly scarce, particularly with clear details and intact paper as seen here.

An excellent addition to any world currency, Russian history, or hyperinflation-era collection.
