1935 Germany 100 Mark Reichsbanknote – Weimar Republic – Classical Allegory – VF Condition

CA$65.00

German 100 Mark Reichsbanknote was originally issued in 1924 during the Weimar Republic, following Germany’s post–World War I currency stabilization. Although dated 1924, these notes remained legally valid through 1935, making them an important transitional issue between hyperinflation and the later Reichsmark period.

The obverse displays an elegant portrait of Agnes Sorel, rendered in fine engraved detail and surrounded by complex guilloché security patterns. Official Reichsbank text, signatures, and red serial numbering reinforce the authority and authenticity of the issue.

The reverse features striking classical allegorical figures flanking a central medallion portrait, symbolizing stability, labor, and state authority. The deeply engraved artwork and symmetry are hallmarks of early 20th-century German banknote design.

Printed with high-quality intaglio methods, this note reflects the Reichsbank’s effort to restore confidence in German paper money after the collapse of the Mark during hyperinflation. Surviving examples with intact paper and clear detail remain popular with collectors of Weimar-era currency, German history, and interwar banknotes.

An excellent addition to any world paper money, German numismatics, or historical currency collection.
