2017 Venezuela 100,000 Bolívares Banknote – Banco Central de Venezuela – Cardinals (Birds) – UNC

CA$5.00

2017 Venezuela 100,000 Bolívares banknote is a striking high-denomination issue from the Banco Central de Venezuela, released during the early stages of Venezuela’s hyperinflation crisis. Notes from this period are widely collected as tangible examples of modern monetary collapse and economic history.

The obverse features a finely engraved portrait of Simón Bolívar, Venezuela’s national hero and liberator of much of northern South America. Bolívar’s portrait is surrounded by layered security patterns, microtext, serial numbering, and a vertical security thread. The denomination Cien Mil Bolívares (100,000) is prominently displayed, reflecting the rapidly escalating inflation that necessitated ever-larger face values.

The reverse showcases a beautifully detailed wildlife scene featuring cardinals (Cardenalitos) perched on branches, representing Venezuela’s rich biodiversity and national pride. The natural imagery is rendered in delicate line engraving and soft colour transitions, complemented by the Venezuelan coat of arms and complex background patterns. Wildlife-themed designs such as this are especially popular with world currency collectors.
