2015 Venezuela 100 Bolívares Banknote – Banco Central de Venezuela – Cardinals (Birds) – UNC
2015 Venezuela 100 Bolívares banknote is a beautifully illustrated issue from the Banco Central de Venezuela, released during the early years of Venezuela’s economic instability, prior to the extreme hyperinflation that followed. Notes from this transitional period are increasingly collected for their historical relevance, artistic design, and wildlife themes.
The obverse features a finely engraved portrait of Simón Bolívar, Venezuela’s national hero and liberator of much of northern South America. Bolívar’s portrait is rendered in crisp intaglio-style linework and framed by complex guilloché patterns, microtext, serial numbering, and a vertical security thread. The denomination Cien Bolívares (100) is clearly displayed, reflecting the face value before later currency escalations.
The reverse showcases an elegant wildlife scene depicting cardinals (Cardenalitos) perched on leafy branches. This design highlights Venezuela’s rich biodiversity and is part of the country’s long-running series of animal-themed banknotes. The birds are finely detailed and set against soft multicolour backgrounds, complemented by the Venezuelan coat of arms and layered security elements.
