1942–1944 Japanese Government Philippines 100 Pesos WWII Occupation Note – VF Condition
This Japanese Government–issued 100 Pesos banknote was circulated in the Philippines during World War II, following the Japanese occupation between 1942 and 1944. Often referred to as “Japanese Invasion Money” or “Mickey Mouse Money,” these notes are historically significant relics of wartime economic control in Southeast Asia.
The front of the note features the bold English text “THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT” with the denomination ONE HUNDRED PESOS, while the reverse displays an ornate, symmetrical design centered on the denomination. Issued to replace existing Philippine currency, these notes rapidly lost value toward the end of the war, making surviving examples important witnesses to wartime inflation and occupation history.
This example shows honest circulation wear consistent with age, while retaining clear details, strong engraving, and legible serial numbers. A desirable piece for collectors of World War II memorabilia, occupation currency, and Philippine numismatics.
