Serbia 1941 100 Dinara Serbian National Bank Banknote – VG Details

CA$25.00

This 1941 Serbia 100 Dinara banknote, issued by the Serbian National Bank (Srpska Narodna Banka), is a historically significant World War II–era note produced during a period of extreme political instability in the Balkans. Dated May 1, 1941 (Beograd), it represents one of the final monetary issues prior to the Axis occupation of Yugoslavia.

The obverse features a finely engraved allegorical female figure symbolizing prosperity and national stability, holding a sheaf of grain and agricultural tools—imagery intended to project strength and continuity during uncertain times. Ornate interlaced borders, classical motifs, and Serbian Cyrillic inscriptions reflect high-quality pre-war European banknote design.

The reverse displays the Serbian double-headed eagle coat of arms, flanked by decorative scrollwork and agricultural elements. A traditionally dressed Serbian peasant stands at right holding produce, reinforcing themes of rural life and national identity. The multicolor engraving and layered patterns provide strong visual depth, even in circulated condition.
